Lisa Lee Freeman is a visual artist based in New York's Hudson Valley. She creates abstract cartographic artworks using ink pours, drawing, painting, and collage. Freeman earned her MFA at the School of Visual Arts in 2022 after attending a residency at the university. She has since participated in several other residencies, most recently at Foundation House in Greenwich, Conn. Her art is featured in Wayfinding, an award-winning documentary, and has appeared in exhibitions in New York City and throughout the tri-state area. Freeman is a member of the Silvermine Guild of Artists and maintains a studio at ArtsWestchester's landmark building in White Plains, NY.

The research, materials, and visual references Freeman uses in her art practice are inspired by her background in journalism and data visualization. She is interested in ways of using the language of maps and charts to tell stories and express ideas outside of hegemonic numerical frameworks. Straddling the personal and the political, her artworks speak to the chaos and complexity of our times. They are cartographies of lived experience that are meditations on getting lost, moving through states of uncertainty, and finding new ways forward.
